About the Masterclass
DIYguru, in collaboration with Tata Technologies, hosted an exclusive Masterclass on “From Learning to Hiring” to bridge the gap between education and career opportunities in the rapidly growing Electric Vehicle (EV) and Automotive sector.
The session focused on educating students and professionals about crucial skills for electric vehicles, current industry trends, available certifications, and employment opportunities. Additionally, it included a special announcement about a collaboration between DIYguru and Tata Technologies, allowing participants to enroll in courses and certifications that are ready for the industry.
Electric Vehicle Industry Growth
In the session, Rahul Kumar discussed the significant expansion of the electric vehicle industry over the last 5-7 years, particularly in India’s two-wheeler and three-wheeler sectors. He pointed out that while the initial purchase price of EVs is higher, the long-term advantages like savings on fuel, government incentives, and lower maintenance costs render them a wise investment. He cited the example of Delhi’s policy of providing free electricity for consumption below 200 units, which further enhances the appeal of owning an electric vehicle.
Rahul Sir also discussed the advantages of electric vehicles over internal combustion engines, such as instant torque, improved efficiency, and fewer moving parts, which simplify manufacturing. This shift towards electrification is being driven by the rising cost of fossil fuels and the need for sustainable transportation solutions.
Collaboration with Tata Technologies
A major highlight of the session was the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) established between DIYguru and Tata Technologies. With this collaboration, DIYguru is now the exclusive partner for Tata Technologies’ digital education platform, “I Get It.”
This partnership provides students and professionals with access to 50-90 hours of courses that are geared towards industry readiness, focusing on essential areas like project management, product design, Siemens NX, CATIA, cybersecurity, and ECU systems. Furthermore, participants have the opportunity to obtain co-certification from Tata Technologies and DIYguru, with some programs also granting IIT certification.
Hands-On Learning: Virtual Lab Tour
The lab features advanced tools and systems for hands-on training, including:
- A Mahindra e2o electric car used for teaching power distribution, battery systems, and diagnostics through an OBD2 port.
- An electric two-wheeler teardown unit for understanding vehicle components.
- A two-wheeler simulator, motor efficiency testing kit, and a 3.3 kW EVSE charger system for understanding EV power flow.
- DIY kits for battery pack creation, various motors, and OBD scanner tools for diagnostics.
This practical approach ensures that learners not only gain theoretical knowledge but also develop skills required for real-world EV applications.
Certifications and Career Opportunities
He explained the different certification options available, which include:
- DIYguru certification
- Co-certification with Tata Technologies
- IIT-certified programs for select courses
These certifications are highly valued in the industry and open doors to career opportunities in leading companies, including those within the Tata Group such as Tata Motors, TCS, and Tata Elxsi. While job placement cannot be guaranteed, DIYguru provides placement assistance and helps students prepare for interviews.
Participants were also informed about career consultation sessions offered by DIYguru experts and invited to join an exclusive WhatsApp group for updates, job alerts, and future sessions.
Key Insights from the Q&A Session
The masterclass concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants asked questions related to:
- EV R&D domains such as powertrain, transmission, battery systems, and charging infrastructure.
- Expected salary packages, which vary based on skills, academic performance, and experience.
- Hands-on projects, which include working on BMS motor control systems, charging systems, and complete EV assemblies.
- EV charging technology, where Rahul clarified that fast-charging systems now allow a 500 km charge in as little as 5 minutes in some global markets.
Mr. Rahul also highlighted in-demand EV domains like battery technology, charging infrastructure, powertrain systems, ADAS, and autonomous technologies.
Conclusion
The “From Learning to Hiring” Masterclass empowered participants with EV industry insights, essential skills, and career pathways. With the DIYguru–Tata Technologies partnership, learners now have access to industry-ready courses, certifications, and placement support, making them future-ready for the electric mobility revolution.
